Get over yourself

Talk to a friend and list all the things you can't do right now, for example meeting new people. You weren't meeting new people even before pandemic restrictions but now the excuses feel so good and responsible. Smile internally. Move on to pointing out stuff that you can't do personally (eg. lack of skills or motivation). Make sure you repeat them a few times, maybe your friend didn't get your gloomy mood the first time. Overhear all the positive stuff your friend is telling you. You're not fishing for compliments here, you just want to be sad and show it. Finish the conversation feeling down and go to sleep crying. By the next morning you would have built up enough negative energy to say "fuck it, nothing makes sense anymore, might as well do it" and do all of those stuff you said you couldn't. You bake that banana bread, you send that complicated email, you fix your bike and make all of the doctor's appointments you have been putting off. You have been incredibly productive and it's only 12 PM. You even feel a little ..positive! Now here comes the hard part, you have to try really hard and allow the feeling. It's like allowing your ex to ghost you repeatedly but now it actually makes sense. You will have a good feeling throughout the day when you return to procrastinating. Hold on to it!
